IMP ORK, Co-founded and co-artistic directed w/John Devine, Twin Cities 21-pc. improvising orchestra, ‘84-’89. Hosted composers Butch Morris, Don Cherry, Roscoe Mitchell and Julius Hemphill, among others. Supported consistently by The Jerome Foundation and the Walker Art Center.

Knot Other Than Love, duo w/ saxophone (Louis Belogenis). NYC ’90 – ’93. Cadence records, ’92.

Coordinated Universal Time, vox (Shi-Zheng Chen), cello, violin (Jason Hwang), Chinese pipa (Wu Man), guitar (Chris Cunningham). NYC, ‘92-’95. Harvestworks/Studio Pass, Tellus #26, NYC, ’93.

Mississippi Peace, A trio of cello, violin and electric bass (Jason Hwang, Stomu Takeishi). NYC ’94 – ’99. A highlight was a commissioned work by NY composer/pianist Myra Melford,  funded by the Jerome Foundation.
